I think it's back

My purple mojo, that is!

This is one of Richard's odds 'n ends sets of cashmere from eBay. The yarn looked more like maroon/deep cherry red in the eBay photo but I was delighted when I opened the parcel this morning to see it was really a light magenta/purple colour. It's almost the same colour as a KnitPicks cable! I knitted a quick swatch so I could wash it to see how the yarn behaves and when it's dry, I'll work out what I'm going to cast on. When I've finished some of the stuff that's already on the needles...

Louisa Harding

I went to another yarn tasting evening at Stash Yarns yesterday; this one featured Louisa Harding yarns.

Top row, left to right: Nautical cotton, Kimono Ribbon, Sari Ribbon, Glisten. Middle row, left to right: Coquette, Impression (nice colours, rather splitty), Kashmir DK, Kimono Angora Pure. Bottom row, left to right: Kashmir Aran (lovely to knit with; a future stash candidate), Grace (gorgeous 50% silk, 50% merino; think Lion & Lamb but in solid colours), Mariposa (my least favourite to knit with, but an interesting colour/texture combination).

Another meme

I've been tagged by Nic; these are the rules:

Each person tagged gives 7 random facts about themselves. Those tagged need to write in their blogs the 7 facts, as well as the rules of the game. You need to tag seven others and list their names on your blog. You have to leave those you plan on tagging a note in their comments so they know that they have been tagged and to read your blog.

Here we go:

1 One of my favourite sandwich fillings is sliced pickled beetroot with Cheshire cheese and mayonnaise.

2 I come from a very flat part of Yorkshire and feel weirdly oppressed in mountainous country.

3 My ear lobes are pierced; the thought of being pierced anywhere else makes me shudder.

4 I used to have white stripes bleached in my black hair and looked like a badger.

5 I own 7 pairs of Birkenstocks, 1 pair of felt slippers and no shoes.

6 I can't follow a symbol chart for knitting or cross stitch unless I colour in the squares first.

7 I'm a forty-a-day-ex-smoker.

I tag Bee, Rachel, Sue, Brigid, Franney, Dawn and Sue

Prisoner of Zenda Syndrome

I was feeling very organised yesterday when I left home to meet up with Liz and Kate at the BL to look at this. No, I told myself, there's no way that yarn I'd ordered from Germany on Friday evening would arrive; other deliveries were booked for the end of the week. Safe to leave home then. I got back to find two 'sorry we missed you; we'll try again tomorrow' cards on the doormat and a similar phone message.

I'm trapped, waiting and feeling like a prisoner inside my own four walls. It's funny how you always want to go out when you've got to stay at home...
