Pink Project Auction

Last year over 200 worldwide knitters and crocheters created pieces of freeform knitting and crochet as contributions towards Prudence Mapstone's Pink Project. Prudence has made wonderful things from the pieces she received and they are now being auctioned to raise money for breast cancer charities. You can see the pieces here; they really are stunning!

This was piece I made; now it's part of the front of an amazing shawl.

There's more information about the Pink Project and how the auction works here. There's also a Ravelry group, The Pink Project.

Knitters are simply the best

In my last post, I mentioned the only out-of-print book remaining on my wish list. The post had hardly whizzed into cyberspace when I got an email from a knitting friend offering to send me her copy. She's thinning out her library and doesn't think she'll knit any of the designs in the book.

I'm not going to embarrass the friend by mentioning her name here, but I do want to say a heartfelt thank you.

Organisation

I do like being organised (stop sniggering at the back there, please). On Saturday, Liz and I went to Creative Stitches at the Brighton Centre to meet up with old friends and perhaps make a purchase or two...

Beads

Brilliant bead boxes; screw-top lids (these days I can't get flip-top lids off anything without fountaining the contents all over the floor) on decently-sized containers (each one holds about 50g of seed beads), packed twelve to a lidded box. I spent most of Sunday filling the four boxes that came home with me. And I enjoyed it. Sad, isn't it?

I bought a little yarn, mainly half price Debbie Bliss Soho for felting from Black Sheep, a card of wonderful Fimo buttons and two storage boxes for, er, storing other stuff. It was good to catch up with both Yvonne and Fred who I haven't seen since the show last year.

Highlight of the week though was buying a copy of this

Norsk

at a decent price from a fellow Raveller. It arrived this morning, meaning that I've only got one out-of-print knitting book (Poetry in Stitches) left on my wish list. The book and a cup of good coffee are calling me...
